Sound Healer vs Sound Practitioner vs Sound Sound Artist

What do these titles mean??

And which title will you choose?

Various titles like “Sound Healer," “Sound Practitioner," “Sound Artist," "Sound Therapist", "Sound Alchemist," are often used to describe individuals curating an experience with sound.

While these labels may carry distinct connotations, the essence remains the same – someone creating meaningful and intentional experiences through sound.

Ultimately, the words we choose to identify with are subjective and personal. Each term may resonate differently with each individual.

Whether one identifies as a “Sound Healer,” “Practitioner,” “Artist,” or something else, the common thread lies in the intention to craft immersive sonic journeys that have the potential to uplift, heal and inspire.

For instance, “Sound Healer” sometimes gets a bad association where people believe that the person calling themselves a “Sound Healer” is being egotistical and thinking they are the only ones providing the healing. But that’s not really the case.

Sound Healer” can be used as your title as you are holding space and creating soundscapes to take people on a journey to activate their own inner healing abilities. You are facilitating, but it’s ultimately up to the client themselves to be open to and tap into their own healing abilities.

Without the guidance of a “Sound Healer” or “Sound Practitioner” to create the experience, some people may never actually have an opportunity for a healing  because they don’t know how to curate a session on their own. That’s why “Sound Healers” are often trained in this work to curate sessions for others.

There’s another layer involved where the “Practitioner” is using mindful intention to welcome in a specific energy into the session for the client or group where they are inviting “healing” to occur. This transmutation of energy is facilitated by the instructor but may not ever be voiced or even said out loud.

We are all healers and we all have healing abilities that we can tap into. But some people choose not to. It’s just not their thing and they would prefer to go to someone who has dedicated their career or life to this form of “healing.”

The way you create your classes and sessions will be unique to you and your way of organizing experiences. You might resonate more with one title vs another.

The bottom line = These titles all represent the same thing, but which one do you prefer?
